"Good Friday"

What is so "Good" about Friday?  Our loving God sends his son into this world as an example of how to treat one another and live our lives.  How do we thank our Lord for this perfect role model?  We ridicule, torture, and murder him.  He offers his son to us in a gesture of love and this is how we repay him?

And we call Friday "Good"???

There are a lot of awful, frustrating things that happen on this Earth.  We are broken and sinful, and fail to follow the example we were given.  But the struggles we go through are a lot like Friday.  You have to know the rest of the story in order for it to make sense.  On Friday, God took the greatest evil, ever committed in human history, and brought from it, the greatest good.  Without Friday, Sunday would not have come.  Jesus knew, as foretold in the Old Testament, that his life, his ministry, and his death was all part of his rebirth.

Where in your life has God taken your pain and suffering and brought blessings from them?  It is our faith that we cling to as we wallow in despair, hoping to be delivered from our pit.

So remember my brothers, as you fight the good fight, even your darkest Fridays, in time, will be considered, "Good".  And never lose hope that Sunday is coming.
